Transaction: Sam Gagner Recalled by Flyers

Phantoms Set For Rivalry Showdown in Hershey on Saturday

Lehigh Valley, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have recalled from loan forward Sam Gagner.

JustSports PhotographyA 26-year-old center from London, Ontario, Gagner registered one goal, five assists and six points in nine games with the Phantoms. Before coming to Lehigh Valley, he compiled two goals, three assists and five points in 18 games with the Flyers.

A first-round selection (6th overall) by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Gagner has amassed 118 goals, 223 points and 341 total points across 580 career NHL games.

The Phantoms return to action this Saturday, January 23 when they invade Giant Center in Hershey for a rivalry showdown with the Bears. In the midst of their 20th season of operation, the Phantoms are coming off their Inaugural Season as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing at the brand-new PPL Center. Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum in Philadelphia before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms. A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center. Through 19 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
