Building Hope for Kids, led by Alvin H. Butz, Inc. Construction, is a Phantoms Charities project that provides a pediatric patient with a home renovation in order to improve that child’s overall health outcomes and quality of life. In previous years, Phantoms Charities renovated at home for a teen with cystic fibrosis, a middle school student with spina bifida, Twins born prematurely at 23-weeks with cerebral palsy, and a high school patient with cancer.
In the 2018-2019 season project every aspect of the home was touched – the roof, windows, three bedrooms, kitchen, two bathrooms, family room, living room, dining room, front porch, and basement. The renovation of the Martes family home in Allentown, PA provided 15-year old Jamuel with a safe, clean, and comfortable home throughout his cancer treatments.
“Now I don’t have to worry about anything. Jamuel is safe, he feels safe, and the renovations are good for his health!” – Kathy Martes, mother
