March 14, 2015

Lehigh Valley, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have recalled from loan forward Nick Cousins.

JustSports PhotographyA 21-year-old center from Belleville, Ontario, Cousins currently ranks fifth among all AHL skaters in total scoring with 55 points and is first on Lehigh Valley’s roster in goals (21), assists (34), points (55) and power play conversions (nine). The 5’11”, 177-pound center recorded four goals and six points in the Phantoms’ three road victories this week and has been on an absolute tear since the first of the new year having amassed 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) and 12 multi-point efforts over the last 29 games.

A third-round selection (68th overall) by the Flyers in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Cousins is in the midst of his second professional season after compiling 11 goals, 18 assists and 29 points in 74 games with the Adirondack Phantoms a year ago. This will be his first NHL recall.

Cousins will be available for Philadelphia’s game tomorrow in Ottawa and will wear jersey No. 52.

The Phantoms kicked off a five-game road trip with three victories in four days this week. After a 4-3 regulation triumph in Toronto on Wednesday, Lehigh Valley outlasted the Providence Bruins 2-1 in a shootout on Friday before earning a come-from-behind 4-2 victory at the Bridgeport Sound Tigers earlier this evening. The Phantoms cap their road swing with tilts in Hartford and Worcester next Friday and Saturday respectively before returning to PPL Center on Sunday, March 22nd for a rivalry showdown with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
