Phantoms Return to Action at PPL Center on Friday Night
January 30, 2018
Lehigh Valley, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have recalled from loan goaltender Alex Lyon.
A 25-year-old netminder from Baudette, Minnesota, Lyon is in his second professional season and has compiled a 13-8-2 overall record in 24 games with the Phantoms this season to go along with a 2.90 goals-against average and 0.910 save percentage.
Across 71 career AHL outings, he’s amassed a 40-22-7 overall mark along with four shutouts, a 2.79 goals-against average and 0.911 save percentage.
Lyon was also recently named the PSECU Player of the Week, after allowing only two goals in two winning outings — Wednesday against Providence and Friday against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton — with the Phantoms this past week. He also earned two, first-star honors for his performances in those games.
The Phantoms return to action this Friday night at PPL Center when they take on their new Atlantic-Division opponent from the south, the Charlotte Checkers, at 7:05 p.m. The team will then travel up the Pennsylvania Turnpike to meet the rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday, February 3.
