18 players set to join Lehigh Valley after Philadelphia makes third round of cuts

Philadelphia, Pa. — The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, announced today that they have trimmed their training camp roster by assigning multiple players to the Phantoms. This is Philadelphia’s third round of cuts, the first of which that affects Lehigh Valley.
Goaltenders Felix Sandstrom and Kirill Ustimenko, forwards Cal O’Reilly, Greg Carey, Maksim Sushko, Gerry Fitzgerald, David Kase, Pascal Laberge, Isaac Ratcliffe and Matthew Strome, as well as defenseman David Drake, Rob Michel and Josh Couturier have all been assigned to the Phantoms.
Additionally, five players will be placed on waivers Saturday for the purpose of assignment to the Phantoms. Those players include: Defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon, Nate Prosser, T.J. Brennan and Reece Willcox as well as forward Kyle Criscuolo.
The Flyers roster now stands at 36 players as the club heads into its final three preseason contests before heading to Europe.
Lehigh Valley will open its training camp, presented by Provident Bank, on Monday, September 23, ahead of the club’s three preseason contests. The Phantoms will faceoff against the rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on September 25 at 7:05 p.m. inside Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza and then return home to PPL Center for the second half of the home-and-home series on September 29 at 3:05 p.m. The Phantoms final preseason tuneup will also take place at PPL Center on September 30 at 7:05 p.m. when the team takes on the Hershey Bears. The Phantoms sixth campaign in the Lehigh Valley begins on October 5 at PPL Center against the Providence Bruins.
