Transaction: Jesper Pettersson Reassigned to Reading Royals

Phantoms Return to PPL Center This Friday, Saturday

Lehigh Valley, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have reassigned defenseman Jesper Pettersson from the Phantoms to the Reading Royals of the ECHL.

Jesper Pettersson PortraitA 21-year-old blueliner from Stockholm, Sweden, Pettersson is in the midst of his second professional season and has tallied one goal, two assists and three points in 23 games with Lehigh Valley this season.

A seventh-round selection (198th overall) by the Flyers in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, he compiled two goals, five assists and seven points across 51 games with the Phantoms a year ago.

The Phantoms return to PPL Center for a pair of games this weekend. First, on Friday, January 15, Lehigh Valley welcomes the rival Hershey Bears to downtown Allentown for a 7:05 p.m. showdown. Friday’s game features a T-Shirt Giveaway where the first 8,500 fans in attendance will receive a FREE shirt featuring the names of each member of the Phantoms organization. Then, on Saturday, January 16, it’s Girl Scout Night when the Hartford Wolf Pack, the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, invade PPL Center for a 7:05 p.m. clash.

In the midst of their 20th season of operation, the Phantoms are coming off their Inaugural Season as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing at the brand-new PPL Center. Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum in Philadelphia before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms. A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center. Through 19 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
