Phantoms Welcome Utica Comets to PPL Center Tonight

Lehigh Valley, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have recalled from loan defenseman Andrew MacDonald from the Phantoms.

Andrew MacDonald PortraitA 29-year-old blueliner from Judique, Nova Scotia, MacDonald currently leads all Lehigh Valley defenders and is tied for second among all AHL defensemen in scoring with 36 points (5 goals, 31 assists). At the time of his recall, the ninth-year pro boasted a nine-game point streak in which he’s amassed 14 points (all assists) over his last nine outings.

A sixth-round selection (160th overall) by the New York Islanders in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, MacDonald has appeared in 373 career NHL outings between the Islanders and Flyers during which he’s compiled 19 goals, 86 assists, 105 points and 196 penalty minutes.

Having won six of their last nine games overall, the Phantoms conclude this week’s action tonight as they welcome the Utica Comets, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, to PPL Center for the first time ever. In the midst of their 20th season of operation, the Phantoms are coming off their Inaugural Season as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing at the brand-new PPL Center. Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum in Philadelphia before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms. A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center. Through 19 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
