Transactions: Nick Cousins Recalled by Flyers, Taylor Leier Returned to Phantoms

Phantoms Return to PPL Center this Friday, Saturday

Lehigh Valley, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have recalled from loan forward Nick Cousins. The Flyers have also returned on loan forward Taylor Leier to the Phantoms.

JustSports PhotographyA 22-year-old center from Belleville, Ontario, Cousins currently leads all Lehigh Valley skaters in scoring with 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists). He’s produced at least one point in 11 of 15 games this year and has already compiled five multi-point efforts this season. Cousins paced all Phantoms in scoring a year ago with 56 points and closed the 2015-16 campaign with an 11-game stint in Philadelphia, which included in NHL debut on March 17, 2015.

A 21-year-old winger from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Leier returns to Lehigh Valley after a six-game tenure with the Flyers, which included his NHL debut on November 14. In the midst of his second professional season, the 5’11”, 177-pound forward has registered nine points (4 goals, 5 assists) in 14 games with the Phantoms this season after compiling 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 73 games in Lehigh Valley during his first pro campaign.

The Phantoms return to PPL Center this Friday and Saturday for a pair of Thanksgiving weekend contests. First, Lehigh Valley hosts the rival Hershey Bears tonight for Go & Grow presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network. Then, on Saturday, November 28, the Providence Bruins invade downtown Allentown. Get up close and personal with your favorite Phantoms that evening with a post-game autograph session with Phantoms players, which includes a team poster giveaway. In the midst of their 20th season of operation, the Phantoms are coming off their Inaugural Season as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing at the brand-new PPL Center. Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum in Philadelphia before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms. A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center. Through 19 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
