Phantoms Players Teach Students About Hockey

The Phantoms have been excited for reading throughout the past month!

Players have been visiting Allentown schools to read to classrooms of students and teach them about hockey! The visits come as a reward to classrooms excelling academically. On March 22, players Adam Brooks, Garrett Wilson, and Kevin Connauton visited Sheridan Elementary. On March 29, players Ronnie Attard, Zayde Wisdom, and Wyatte Wylie visited Union Terrace Elementary. Finally, players Bobby Brink and Zayde Wisdom visited Central Elementary on April 5.

At each visit, players read a book titled “My First Book of Hockey” to kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms. After reading their book to teach students about the game of hockey, players handed out special Phantoms pencils, signed autographs, and answered tons of questions about hockey.

Each player loved the visits, opting to stay longer than expected to take photos with each class, visit other classrooms, and sign autographs for teachers and students alike.

These visits were part of the upcoming collaboration between the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Phantoms Charities presented by Air Products. The collaboration will be in full effect during the 2023-2024 season, where players will visit classrooms to read throughout the whole season as a reward for improved academic performance and to encourage reading.
