Played 5 Games for Flyers Last 2 Weeks
October 31, 2026
Allentown, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers have returned defenseman Hunter McDonald to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
McDonald played in five games with the Flyers since his recall two weeks ago, getting in two fights, laying out several big hits, and generally playing hard-nosed defense in the longest NHL stint of his career. The Fairport, NY native had only played in one career NHL game at the end of last season prior to his most recent opportunity.
McDonald, 24, is in his third full season of professional hockey. The 6-foot-4, 238-pound defenseman has played in six games with the Phantoms this season scoring 1-2-3. McDonald had previously played in one career NHL game making his debut in Philadelphia’s regular-season finale against Montreal on April 14, 2026, where he recorded his first career NHL point with a +3 rating.
The Flyers’ sixth-round selection (165th overall) in the 2022 NHL Draft has played 153 career AHL games and recorded 30 points on five goals and 25 assists. He has also appeared in 13 total Calder Cup Playoff games, registering two goals. Prior to turning professional, the 6’4″ lefty-shot from Fairport, NY played two seasons of collegiate hockey at Northeastern University (NCAA) from 2022-24. He recorded 2-18-20 and was +24 over 58 collegiate games.
The Phantoms are back at PPL Center on Sunday at 3:05 p.m. hosting the Providence Bruins. Haunted on Hamilton will feature trick-or-treating, a costume parade, pumpkin painting, and a popcorn bucket giveaway presented by Guber.
