Transactions: Akeson Recalled by Flyers, Goumas Recalled by Phantoms

Sold-Out PPL Center Set for Legends Night with Bob Clarke Tonight vs. Binghamton

Lehigh Valley, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have recalled from loan forward Jason Akeson while the Phantoms have recalled from loan forward Kevin Goumas from the Reading Royals of the ECHL.

A 24-year-old forward from Orleans, Ontario, Akeson registered eight goals, nine assists and 17 points in 19 games with Lehigh Valley after being loaned from Philadelphia on November 28th. A 5’10”, 190-pound pivot, Akeson began the season with the Flyers where he accumulated six penalty minutes over 12 games. The fourth-year pro currently ranks fifth on the Phantoms’ all-time franchise list in assists (123), seventh in points (189), 11th in goals (66) and 12th in games played (227).

JustSports PhotographyA 23-year-old forward from Long Beach, New York, Goumas returns to Lehigh Valley after just one game in Reading. The 5’10”, 160-pound center was loaned to the Royals on Wednesday and registered three shots on goal in Reading’s 4-2 setback at the Elmira Jackals last evening. In 29 games with the Phantoms this season, Goumas has amassed one goal, two assists, three points and 14 penalty minutes. In the midst of his first professional season, he spent the last four seasons at the University of New Hampshire where he compiled 44 goals, 102 assists and 146 points in 146 games with the Wildcats.

The Phantoms return to action tonight as Lehigh Valley welcomes the Binghamton Senators to an already sold-out PPL Center. It’s another Legends Night as Bob Clarke, one of hockey’s all-time greats and the architect of the Phantoms’ 1998 and 2005 Calder Cup championship teams, will be at the game. All fans in attendance tonight will receive a FREE Collector’s Edition Poster spotlighting Clarke and the hockey legend will be signing autographs from 6:00 to 6:45 PM on the main concourse.

In their 19th season of operation, the Phantoms are currently in the midst of their Inaugural Season as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing at the brand-new PPL Center. Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms. A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center. Through 18 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
