Phantoms Return to PPL Center Tonight vs. Albany

Lehigh Valley, PA – The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, have returned on loan goaltender Martin Ouellette to the Reading Royals of the ECHL.

JustSports PhotographyA 23-year-old netminder from Saint-Hippolyte, Quebec, Ouellette was recalled from loan on January 13th for the second time this season and has compiled a 3-2 overall record to go along with 2.55 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in six appearances with the Phantoms this season. Each of Ouellette’s three AHL victories this year have come in front of better 8,000 fans at PPL Center including a record-setting crowd of 8,983 spectators who witnessed Lehigh Valley’s 4-3 win over the St. John’s IceCaps last Saturday.

In the midst of his first professional season, the 6’2″, 194-pound netminder has produced an 11-6-2 record, 2.85 goals-against average and .907 save percentage in 19 games with the Royals.

A seventh-round selection (184th overall) by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Ouellette spent the last four years at the University of Maine where he compiled a 28-33-14 overall record to go along with a 2.52 goals-against average coupled with a .913 save percentage. During that time, he was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team.

The Phantoms return to PPL Center for a pair of games this week. First, Lehigh Valley welcomes the Albany Devils to town for the final time this season tonight. Then, the Phantoms welcome the rival Hershey Bears back to downtown Allentown on Friday, January 30th. Friday’s game features a free youth jersey giveaway for the first 3,000 kids in attendance (ages 14 and under) and is also meLVin’s Birthday Bash as everyone’s favorite puck-nosed pladottle will celebrate with some of his craziest mascot friends.

In their 19th season of operation, the Phantoms are currently in the midst of their Inaugural Season as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing at the brand-new PPL Center. Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms. A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center. Through 18 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
