Phantoms Add Serratore and Capobianco

April 14, 2014

The Adirondack Phantoms have announced they have added forward Tom Serratore and goaltender Tony Capobianco on Amateur Tryout contracts (ATO). The team also announced they have release goaltender Matt Weninger from his ATO.

Tom Serratore (pronounced Sehr-uh-torr-ee) will wear #21 with the Phantoms. The 5'11" lefty-shooter is fresh off his appearance at the Frozen Four in Philadelphia with the University of Minnesota where the Golden Gophers advanced to the national championship game. He scored three goals and four assists in 35 games in his senior season. The 24-year-old from Colorado Springs, Colo. is the son of long-time Air Force Academy head coach Frank Serratore and is the nephew of long-time Bemidji State (Minn.) head coach Tom Serratore.

Tony Capobianco is a 24-year-old netminder from Mississauga, Ont. who recently completed his collegiate career at Canisius College. In his senior season, he posted a 13-14-2 record with a 2.88 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage. Capobianco made his pro debut with the Elmira (NY) Jackals of the ECHL on March 30, 2014. In two professional games for Elmira, he has gone 0-1-0, 4.34, .844.

Matt Weninger signed with the Phantoms out of St. Lawrence University and did not appear in any games.

Adirondack has four games remaining including three away games. The Phantoms are at Bridgeport on Monday and Syracuse on Wednesday. Then it's the big home finale on Friday night with the fans' last ever chance to cheer for the Adirondack Phantoms and the team's last chance to thank their loyal supporters. 25 Terrific Seasons
Glens Falls is celebrating its 25th season hosting an AHL team and in so doing now joins an elite group of just 9 other active markets who can make such a claim. It's a great hockey tradition with an old-school feel that began with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1979. In their 20-year tenure at the Glens Falls Civic Center through 1999, the Red Wings won four Calder Cups. The Adirondack Phantoms began play in Glens Falls in 2009-10 and are in their fifth season bringing exciting AHL action to the North Country.
