Cal Heeter Returned to Phantoms

March 3, 2014

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they have returned goalie Cal Heeter on loan to the Adirondack Phantoms following his brief two-day call-up. Ray Emery had been sidelined with a lower-body injury.

Heeter joined the Flyers last weekend and dressed in Philadelphia's games on Saturday and Sunday as back-up to Steve Mason. It was Heeter's second career call-up to the Flyers and his first this season. The St. Louis, Missouri native has yet to appear in any regular-season game-action in the NHL.

Cal Heeter is a second-year pro out of Ohio State who appeared in one preseason game for Philadelphia earning a 3-2 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 16.

Heeter is 15-19-0 for the Adirondack Phantoms this year with a 2.48 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. He has four shutouts this season including back-to-back blankings on January 3 and January 4 of the Hershey Bears and Albany Devils when he won AHL Player of the Week honors.

25 Terrific Seasons
Glens Falls is celebrating its 25th season hosting an AHL team and in so doing now joins an elite group of just 9 other active markets who can make such a claim. It's a great hockey tradition with an old-school feel that began with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1979. In their 20-year tenure at the Glens Falls Civic Center through 1999, the Red Wings won four Calder Cups. The Adirondack Phantoms began play in Glens Falls in 2009-10 and are in their fifth season bringing exciting AHL action to the North Country.
