Cal Heeter Recalled by Flyers

February 28, 2014

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced they have recalled goalie Cal Heeter on an emergency basis from the Adirondack Phantoms. Ray Emery is sidelined with a lower-body injury and is described as day-to-day according to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren. Heeter will join the Flyers for their Saturday afternoon game against the New York Rangers.

Heeter was recalled a couple of times by the Flyers last season in similar circumstances. He dressed for Philadelphia but did not see any game-action. The second-year pro out of Ohio State has yet to make his NHL debut.

Heeter appeared in one preseason game for Philadelphia earning a 3-2 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 16.

Heeter is 15-19-0 for the Adirondack Phantoms this year with a 2.48 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. He has four shutouts this season including back-to-back blankings on January 3 and January 4 of the Hershey Bears and Albany Devils when he won AHL Player of the Week honors.

The Phantoms continue their 3-in-3 weekend on Saturday night at the Syracuse Crunch at 7:00.

25 Terrific Seasons
Glens Falls is celebrating its 25th season hosting an AHL team and in so doing now joins an elite group of just 9 other active markets who can make such a claim. It's a great hockey tradition with an old-school feel that began with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1979. In their 20-year tenure at the Glens Falls Civic Center through 1999, the Red Wings won four Calder Cups. The Adirondack Phantoms began play in Glens Falls in 2009-10 and are in their fifth season bringing exciting AHL action to the North Country.
