"We celebrate a historic milestone in the
rich history of Adirondack hockey," Rob Brooks
said. "We are entering an elite group of
only 12 other cities that can say they have hosted
an American Hockey League team for 25 years."
The logo was designed locally by Jesse Tyree of
Black Dog Designs in Glens Falls. It features
a cityscape and buildings of downtown Glens Falls
as a showcase to the area. "Red Wings"
and "Phantoms" are spelled out on each
side of the logo as a tribute to both of the AHL
teams who have called Glens Falls their home.
Sticks criss-cross underneath the "25"
insignia which is encircled by a puck.
The new logo will be prominently featured throughout
the season. Also unveiled at the ceremony was
a template for a special jersey using the same
logo which the Phantoms will wear in their home
game on November 23. Commemorative pint glasses
with the logo are available through the Phantoms'
Opening Night Ticket Package and souvenir pucks
with the logo will be on sale beginning with that
first home game on October 12.
As the team honored and recognized the hockey
tradition and history in Glens Falls, attentions
were also turned to the future.
"We are very excited about this coming year.
25 years worth of history is phenomenal in Glens
Falls," said Mayor Jack Diamond. "We
are looking for a seamless transition. I am fully
committed to having American League Hockey in
Glens Falls for 2014-2015. I'm excited about our
Mayor Diamond went onto explain part of the city's
game-plan moving forward. "We've been in
discussions with Rob and Jim Brooks. My intentions
are to go in front of the (AHL) Board of Governors,
make a presentation, and tell them a little bit
about Glens Falls and our rich history. We know
that in a competitive market the building is going
to need a little bit of an upgrade so we have
submitted applications for funding to do some
improvements that may be required. Getting in
front of the American Hockey League ownership
group is very important."
