Phantoms have announced that forward Rob Bordson
has agreed to an AHL contract for the 2013-14
season. This will be Bordson's fourth season in
professional hockey and he has been a part of
the Phantoms in all four.
The 25-year-old from Duluth, Minnesota was one
of just two players (along with Danny Syvret)
to suit up for all 76 Adirondack Phantoms' games
last season. He was able to accomplish this even
after a scary incident in which an errant slap-shot
hit him in the head. The blast on Sunday, March
24 broke through his visor and left Bordson with
a black-eye and some stitches but he was able
to return to the lineup for the team's next game
on March 29.
In 2012-13 Bordson scored an AHL career-high
12 goals along with 13 assists and 25 points.
The hard-working forward can play center or wing
and has proven himself invaluable on the penalty-kill.
He has played in 161 career games with Adirondack
scoring 21 goals, 32 assists and 55 points. He
is tied for sixth all-time in career games played
for the Adirondack Phantoms and is only 24 games
behind Kevin Marshall (185) for most career games
in team history.
The former University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldog
initially joined the Phantoms in November, 2010
coming over from the Syracuse Crunch after he
was traded by the Anaheim Ducks organization to
the Philadelphia Flyers.
The next season, Bordson rejoined the Phantoms
at the tail-end of 2011-12 after playing the beginning
part of the year in the ECHL.
In his third season, 2012-13, Bordson spent the
entire year with the Phantoms for the first time
in his career.
On February 1, 2013 he scored two goals against
the Norfolk Admirals in a 5-2 victory. It was
the second multi-goal game of his AHL career and
his first since his rookie season when he had
a pair of lamplighters on January 26, 2011 in
a 4-3 win against the Binghamton Senators.
In Bordson's AHL career, he has appeared in 184
games and has scored 22 goals and 58 points. This
included 15 games with the Syracuse Crunch in
2010-11 and eight games with the Rochester Americans
in 2011-12. He also played in 38 games with Trenton
in the ECHL in 2011-12. Last season he surpassed
200 professional games.
