Shane Harper and Blake Kessel to ADK
April 1, 2013

The Phantoms have announced that Shane Harper and Blake Kessel have been reassigned by the Philadelphia Flyers to Adirondack. Both players arrive from the Trenton Titans of the ECHL who concluded their regular season last weekend.

Shane Harper, 24, returns to the Adirondack Phantoms where he has played 42 games this season scoring 4-4-8. Harper was reassigned from Adirondack to Trenton on March 4 and it is safe to say his different stretches in the ECHL have been a success. Harper scored over a goal per game there and almost two points per game racking up 14-13-27 in just 15 games at the lower level.

On March 22 and March 23 he pulled off the incredibly rare feat of recording hat tricks in consecutive games, the first of his professional career. In his attempt for a third-straight hat trick on the March 24 game he had to "settle" for a four-point night with one goal and three assists. And then he racked up another two goals in the game after that on March 28. It was an amazing total of 9-7-16 in just four games in that eight-day run for Harper.

Harper is in his third season with the Phantoms. He scored 14-13-27 with Adirondack last year in 70 games. The Valencia, Cal. native signed with the Adirondack Phantoms as a free-agent after breaking various scoring records with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL.

Blake Kessel, 23, has spent the bulk of the season with Trenton where he played in 54 games scoring 8-33-41. He has also played in three games with Adirondack this season scoring zero points.

The University of New Hampshire product played exclusively with Adirondack last year in his rookie season scoring 1-17-18 in 56 games. Kessel hails from Verona, Wis. and is the younger brother of NHL veteran Phil Kessel of the Toronto Maple Leafs who was 175 goals and 186 assists for 361 points in 492 career games including four-straight seasons of 30 or more goals entering this year.

Blake's sister, Amanda Kessel, won Collegiate National Player of the Year honors this season as a junior for the national champion University of Minnesota team and she also plays on the USA National squad in various international events and championships.

The Phantoms will return to game action next weekend with home games Friday and Saturday against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Rochester. Saturday night's game is Fan Appreciation Night presented by Stored Tech with hundreds of prizes awarded to fans in attendance. Plus, it's the return of Super-Fan Cameron Hughes, presented by Tackett Chiropractic.
