Upcoming
The Phantoms hit the road this week and will be
logging on the miles in their most extended sojourn
of the 2012-13 season. Actually, the seven-game
roadie already began this past Sunday with their
afternoon game in Albany.
But now the team gets into the real teeth of their
road-trip that takes them to Portland, Binghamton,
Hershey and Norfolk before wrapping up with a
game on Saturday, March 23 in Hartford. The Phantoms
don't return for their next home game until Sunday,
March 24.
Safe travels, guys...Let's get some of those hard-to-earn
road W's!
Transactions
It's been a busy-week on the roster-wire for the
Phantoms who have had a bit of a goaltender-carousel
the past few days and also welcome back some other
big-names like Tye McGinn and Erik Gustafsson.
The Phantoms welcomes Michael Leighton for a couple
games on his injury-recovery stint, then brought
in Cal Heeter as a backup while the Phantoms were
transitioning goalies, and then welcomed back
Brian Boucher who played in Sunday's game at Albany.
Last weekend, the Phantoms had four different
goalies on the roster at different points.
Mar 6 - Eric Wellwood (F) - Returned on loan from
Philadelphia (NHL)
Mar 9 - Cal Heeter (G) - Reassigned from Trenton
(ECHL) to ADK
Mar 9 - Michael Leighton (G) - Recalled from loan
by Philadelphia (NHL)
Mar 9 - Brian Boucher (G) - Loaned to ADK from
Philadelphia (NHL)
Mar 10 - Cal Heeter (G) - Reassigned to Trenton
(ECHL) from ADK
Mar 11 - Tye McGinn (F) - Returned on loan from
Philadelphia (NHL)
Mar 12 - Matthew Ford (F) - Traded by Philadelphia
to Columbus for future considerations
Mar 12 - Erik Gustafsson (D) - Returned on loan
from Philadelphia (NHL)
NHL Experience
Both Tye McGinn and Erik Gustafsson have recently
bolstered their NHL experience as they return
to the Phantoms this week.
McGinn joined Philadelphia on January 21 to make
his NHL debut and played in 16 games with the
Flyers before getting in a fight on February 25
and suffering an injury. He scored 3 goals and
2 assists and also got into a couple of impressive
fights.
Gustafsson was recalled on February 16 to play
his first NHL game of the season and he stayed
with the Flyers for 11 games recording 2 assists.
Ten different players who have been on this year's
Adirondack Phantoms have been called up to the
Philadelphia Flyers this year....and counting!
The list includes Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier,
Zac Rinaldo, Eric Wellwood, Tye McGinn, Andreas
Lilja, Erik Gustafsson, Brian Boucher, Harry Zolnierczyk,
Michael Leighton.
Eight current Phantoms have played with the Flyers
either this season or in the past:
Brian Boucher, Erik Gustafsson, Andreas Lilja,
Brandon Manning, Tye McGinn, Danny Syvret, Eric
Wellwood, Harry Zolnierczyk.

The Race is On!
Now that Erik Gustafsson has returned to the Adirondack
Phantoms it should be a very interesting race
to see who takes over the all-time career points
record first and also who achieves the 100 point
milestone first.
Jason Akeson now has 91 points in his Adirondack
Phantoms career while Erik Gustafsson has 90 with
the team. Denis Hamel is still the all-time leader
with 96 career points but that record is at risk
to fall to one or both of these players in the
coming weeks.
In career assists, Gustafsson (79) and Akeson
(64) are already 1 and 2 with the Adirondack Phantoms.

Phantoms Week in Review
Friday, March 8 - Adirondack Phantoms
2 - Springfield Falcons 1
The Adirondack Phantoms avenged their worst loss
of the season and knocked off the first-place
team in the league with a solid effort against
the Springfield Falcons.
Oliver Lauridsen broke out of his shell to join
the rush and score the game-winning goal early
in the third-period on a big shot from the left
circle.
Rookie Marcel Noebels scored his 7th of the year.
And Michael Leighton turned in a 31-save performance
en route to being named #1 Star of the Game. It
would be Leighton's second, and last, game with
the Phantoms on his recent stint. Less than 24
hours later, he was recalled by the Philadelphia
Flyers.
Saturday, March 9 - Adirondack Phantoms
4 - Connecticut Whale 3
Down but not out. That was the mantra of the Phantoms
on Saturday night in front of a big crowd. Trailing
3-1 with less than six minutes remaining, the
Phantoms forged a ferocious comeback with three
goals in about the next three minutes for the
exciting win.
Jason Akeson recorded the first hat trick of his
professional career. His second goal of the game
made the score 3-2 with just under 6:00 to go.
Then just 29 second later, Eric Wellwood's blast
from the right-circle would tie the game at 3-3.
With 2:48 left, Akeson dove hard into the crease
on a long and extended battle for the puck following
a Jon Sim wrap-around try. Akeson was able to
get enough to nudge it across the goal-line for
the game-winner. Although the goal first had to
be confirmed by video-review and then the crowd
had to wait for the announcement to know for certain
that Akeson was to be credited with the hat trick.
It was one of the most exciting games of the year
and several fans commented they lost their voices
from all of their cheering!
Akeson's hat-trick was the 9th all-time for the
Adirondack Phantoms and the 2nd recorded this
year. It was the 5th Phantoms hat-trick at the
Glens Falls Civic Center and the first since October
14, 2011.

Jason Akeson scored his fourth goal of the weekend
to begin the team's away game at Albany. Joe Whitney
scored his 21st of the year and 7th against the
Phantoms and then Mike Sislo beat Brian Boucher
in the second period to give Albany the lead.
Jon Sim's third with the Phantoms and ninth goal
overall this year tied the game at 2-2 by the
end of the second period and neither side was
able to convert on some glorious chances that
developed after that. In overtime, Matt Anderson
hit the crossbar for Albany while Jason Akeson
had two close-calls for the Phantoms in his efforts
to fire home the game-winner.
Albany rookie goalie Scott Wedgewood made several
more key saves as Adirondack out-shot Albany 36-20
in the game and then the Devils pulled out the
win in the shootout session for the extra standings
point to spoil Adirondack's bid for a perfect
weekend. The Phantoms earned one standings point
with the loss and made it five oints out of a
possible six during their three-game weekend.
