The Phantoms
have announced that Tye McGinn (LW) has been loaned
to Adirondack by the Philadelphia Flyers, according
to general manager Paul Holmgren.
McGinn was recalled by the Flyers on January 21
and has played in 16 games with Philadelphia this
year scoring three goals and two assists. He began
the season with Adirondack playing in 33 games
and scoring 11 goals and 4 assists.
The 22-year-old has been out of action since February
25 when he sustained an injury in a fight.
McGinn made his NHL debut on January 22 at the
New Jersey Devils and got in his first NHL fight
a couple days later against Kris Newbury of the
New York Rangers. To cap off his big debut week,
he scored his first NHL goal on January 26 at
Florida.
His most recent game with the Phantoms was in
Atlantic City on January 20 against the Albany
Devils.
Last year in his rookie season, McGinn scored
12 goals and 6 assists with the Phantoms.
The second-year pro from Fergus, Ont. was selected
in the fourth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft
out of Gatineau of the QMJHL.
His older brother, Jamie McGinn of the Colorado
Avalanche, has played in 245 career NHL games.
Tye has a younger brother, Brock McGinn, who was
a second-round selection of the Carolina Hurricanes
last season and is currently playing Major Juniors
with the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League.
