The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that Michael Leighton (G) has been recalled from his loan to the Adirondack Phantoms and will re-join the Flyers, according to Philadelphia Flyers' general manager Paul Holmgren.

The fans in Glens Falls enjoyed the opportunity to watch the popular Leighton return for two games with the Phantoms while recovering from his injury and working back into game-shape. Leighton picked up his first Adirondack win in almost a year with a 2-1 decision over first-place Springfield on Friday night. He made 31 saves on his way to #1 Star of the Game honors.

The 31-year-old Leighton is 16th all-time in AHL career wins with 171 and is 4th all-time in shutouts with 36 including 7 with Adirondack. He also represented the Phantoms at the AHL All-Star Classic last season in Atlantic City.

He won the Baz Bastien Award as the AHL's top goalie in that 2007-08 season and went on to backstop the Philadelphia Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2009-10 in a run which included three shutouts of the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Leighton has played in 104 career NHL games with Philadelphia, Carolina, Nashville and Chicago with an all-time record of 35-40-10-4, 2.95, .902.

All-time with Adirondack, Leighton has played in 88 career games going 43-39-4, 2.36, .921. He is the all-time leader for the Adirondack Phantoms in career wins (43), games played by goalie (88) and saves (2444).

In his AHL career with Norfolk, Rochester, Portland, Philadelphia, Albany and Adirondack, Leighton has played in 353 career games going 171-143-29, 2.29, .918.
