Upcoming
The Phantoms have their annual Philadelphia game
this week, will wear special jerseys on Dax's
birthday, and have a trip to Chocolate-Town in-between.
The weekend begins with a Friday night game at
Wells-Fargo Center against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
Penguins in the team's annual trip to Philadelphia.
The game in the big NHL atmosphere is already
sold-out.
Saturday night, the Phantoms are at the Hershey
Bears for the first time this year.
And Sunday at 5:00, Adirondack returns to Glens
Falls against the Binghamton Senators on Dax's
Big Birthday Bash.
Injured Player in Springfield Game
The Phantoms' game on Sunday evening took a frightening
and somber tone in the second period when Springfield
forward Wade MacLeod suffered a seizure on the
ice in the second period. The two teams had players
who were quite rattled by the scary situation
and the decision was made to suspend the game
at that point.
MacLeod was rushed to Baystate Medical Center
in Springfield and was alert and stable and in
good spirits as he underwent tests. He was released
from the hospital the next day. His collapse on
the ice came a few seconds after he was checked
by Adirondack's Brandon Manning who quickly communicated
his thoughts and best wishes via twitter. And
then MacLeod thanked Manning as well as all the
other players and fans for their outpouring of
support while also stating that Manning's hit
was not at all out of the ordinary.
The Phantoms are extremely pleased to hear of
MacLeod's quick recovery.
The game will be resumed on Friday, March 1 at
6:05 p.m. in Springfield with Adirondack leading
Springfield 2-1 with 3:42 remaining in the second
period. After the conclusion of that game and
then a brief intermission, the two teams will
return to the ice to play their regularly scheduled
full game.
Dax Jerseys
Sunday evening it's Dax's Big Birthday Bash! The
team will switch out their regular Phantoms logo
and will sport Dax's face on the front of their
jerseys instead. The funny jerseys will be available
after the game to fans via a post-game auction.
Dax's mascot friends will be there as well for
the big celebration!
Valentine's Deliveries by Dax!
Several lucky gals received their Valentine's
Day presents delivered personally by a giant,
orange, beaver mascot. Thanks for all the fun
deliveries, Dax! And also to our sponsor, A Lasting
Impression.

Phantoms Week in Review
Friday, February 15 - Albany Devils
4 - Adirondack Phantoms 2
It was a scoring-fest early between the Phantoms
and the Devils with 4 goals in the first 7 minutes
of the game in a 2-2 tie. The next goal would
come at the 11:13 mark when Rob Bordson gave the
Phantoms a 3-2 lead. And then the one-goal margin
would have to hold up for almost the whole rest
of the way.
Adirondack survived a second-period barrage of
shots and puck possession by Albany and Scott
Munroe made several key saves to maintain the
lead. Eric Wellwood would eventually seal the
victory over their Time Warner Cable Cup rivals
with his late empty-netter.
Andrew Johnston's second goal of the season and
Brandon Manning's sixth were among the early tallies
in the game. Munroe made 31 saves on 33 shots
for the victory.

Saturday, February 16 - Worcester
Sharks 3 - Adirondack Phantoms 2
Dax Bobblehead Night proved to be a big hit with
hundreds of fans lined up outside the doors prior
to game-time to receive their mini-statuettes.
Jon Sim had his first goal as an Adirondack Phantom
and added an assist on a Garrett Roe goal. But
the Worcester Sharks would win a key face-off
in the final minutes of the game and rookie Freddie
Hamilton would blast home the game-winner with
3:26 remaining in the third period for the 3-2
final.
Former Phantoms standout Jon Matsumoto scored
his 11th goal of the season for the Sharks. Matsumoto
had 30 goals in 2009-10 with Adirondack.
David Laliberte had an assist on Sim's goal early
in the game to extend his point streak to four
games.
For Sim, it was his first goal with Adirondack
but not his first goal for the Phantoms. The 35-year-old
veteran had a combined 45 goals in the regular
season and post-season in 2004-05 in helping the
Philadelphia Phantoms to a Calder Cup Championship.

Sunday, February 17 - Suspended Game
- Adirondack 2 - Springfield 1
Brandon Manning's hit did not appear to be particularly
vicious or dangerous which made the severe injury
to Wade MacLeod especially surprising. The second-year
pro out of Northeastern University went into convulsions
and had a seizure while he was skating back to
the bench following the check.
The trainers and medical personnel tended to MacLeod
for about 12 minutes on the ice before he was
taken away via stretcher and rushed to a local
hospital.
The players were no longer in a hockey-frame of
mind after the frightening situation and eventually
both coaches decided to suspend the game to be
completed later.
Thankfully, MacLeod quickly recovered and was
released from hospital the next day. He also communicated
via twitter all of his heart-felt thanks for the
players, teams and fans expressing their thoughts
and prayers.
Adirondack led 2-1 at the time on goals by Rob
Bordson and Danny Syvret. The game will be resumed
with 3:42 left in the second period and Springfield
about to go on a power play. Adirondack travel
to Springfield on Friday, March 1 so the game
will simply be completed before the two teams
go on to play their regularly scheduled game.
Saratoga Spine Phantoms Player of the
Week - Jon Sim
Jon Sim is the Saratoga Spine Player of the Week.
The 35-year-old veteran scored his first goal
with Adirondack and also recorded an assist last
Saturday night against the Worcester Sharks.
Sim also played in his 200th career AHL game last
Friday which goes along with 469 NHL games in
his career. It was his 101st career goal in the
AHL.
Sim scored 35 goals in 2004-05 with the Philadelphia
Phantoms on their way to a Calder Cup Championship
which also included him scoring 10 more goals
in the post-season. His goal last Saturday was
his first with the Phantoms since June 10, 2005
when he scored two goals in the Calder Cup Championship
clincher vs. the Chicago Wolves.
Sim has played for the New York Islanders, Atlanta
Thrashers, Florida Panthers, Philadelphia Flyers,
Los Angeles Kings and Dallas Stars.
