Rookie forward Marcel Noebels has been reassigned
by the Philadelphia Flyers to the Adirondack Phantoms
from the Trenton Titans (ECHL) according to general
manager Paul Holmgren.
The 20 year old (March 14, 1992) left-wing from
Toenisvorst, Germany has yet to play in the American
Hockey League. With Trenton this year he has 11
goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 31 games.
Noebels has been particularly hot with the scoring
hand over his last month in the ECHL beginning
with a hat trick against Elmira on December 1.
He scored nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points
in just 14 games in December. He scored goals
in five out of six games in a stretch from December
15 through December 27. As Noebels' scoring picked
up, so did the Titans who were recently on a seven-game
point streak and five-game winning streak.
Noebels was selected by the Flyers in the fourth
round of the 2011 NHL entry draft. He previously
played Major Juniors for the Seattle Thunderbirds
and Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey
League. He scored a combined 20 goals and 38 assists
in 62 games with Portland and Seattle in the 2011-12
season.
Noebels is listed as 6'2" and 205 pounds
and is a left-handed shooter. He played for various
youth national teams for Germany including in
the Under-20 World Juniors Championships in 2011
and in WJC Division I in 2012 as an alternate
captain. His performance in 2012 helped the team
re-enter the top division again for the currently
ongoing World Juniors in Russia (Noebels is no
longer eligible to participate).
