The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that
they have signed Cullen Eddy, Mike Testwuide and
Danny Syvret to contracts. Eddy and Testwuide
have played with the Phantoms in each of the last
two years while Syvret rejoins the Flyers organization
where he played from 2008-11.
Also, Garrett Roe and Zack Fitzgerald have signed
AHL contracts with the Adirondack Phantoms.
Garrett Roe returns to the Phantoms
following a successful rookie campaign in which
the Vienna, Va. resident played in 72 games scoring
eight goals and 32 assists. He finished second
on the team in assists trailing only Jason Akeson.
Roe is 24 years old and was a seventh round selection
of the Los Angeles Kings in 2008. He came to the
Phantoms from St. Cloud State (Minn.) where he
scored 45 goals and 113 assists for 158 points
in his four-year collegiate career in the WCHA
with the Huskies.
Zack Fitzgerald is well known
as one of the toughest customers in the AHL having
racked up 200 or more penalty minutes in each
of the last four seasons. In 2009-10, he played
nearby with the Albany River Rats where he led
the league in PIM's with 311. He led the league
again this past season with 268 penalty minutes
playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs. He has scored
10 goals and 37 assists for 47 points in 373 in
his AHL career with began in 2005-06 with Peoria.
The 27 year old from Twin Harbors, Minn. was a
third round selection of the St. Louis Blues in
2003.
Cullen Eddy was named as the
Adirondack Phantoms Man of the year in 2011-12
for his efforts in the community and his popularity
and friendliness with the fans. The Hidden Valley,
Penn. native has played each of the last two seasons
with the Phantoms.
Eddy is a 23 year old defenseman out of Mercyhurst
College. In the last two seasons with Adirondack,
he has played in 101 games scoring five goals
and 20 assists while accumulating 150 penalty
minutes. In 2011-12 he played in 54 games scoring
two goals and 13 assists. Eddy has also played
in 31 games in the ECHL with Greenville, S.C.
the past two seasons including 15 games last year
where he scored four goals and 14 points before
joining the Phantoms in November.
Mike Testwuide returns to the
Flyers organization for his third season. The
26-year-old wing from Vail, Colo. has spent all
of the past two campaigns with Adirondack. He
scored 12 goals and 17 assists in 66 games last
year with the Phantoms. He racked up 18 goals
and 21 assists in his rookie campaign in 2010-11
to lead all Phantoms rookies while playing in
76 games. He is a former captain of the Colorado
College Tigers he he scored 21 goals and 31 points
during his senior campaign in 2009-10.
Danny Syvret played with the
Peoria (Ill.) Rivermen in the AHL last year, the
top affiliate of the St. Louis Blues. Syvret scored
seven goals and 35 assists for 42 points in 75
games with Peoria. He finished fifth among AHL
defensemen in total assists and was also 10th
in points for all league blue-liners. The third-round
pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2005 has played
in 59 career NHL games with Edmonton, Anaheim
and Philadelphia scoring three goals and four
assists.
Syvret played in 51 games with Adirondack in
his most recent season in Glens Falls in 2010-11
after coming back via a trade with the Anaheim
Ducks organization. The 26 year old from Millgrove,
Ont. racked up 10 goals and 26 assists with the
Phantoms that year and also played in four games
with Philadelphia. He has played in 142 career
games in three seasons with the Phantoms from
2008-09 through 2010-11. With the Philadelphia
Phantoms in 2008-09, Syvret was second in the
AHL in both assists and points for defensemen
with 45 helpers and 57 total points.
