Adirondack Phantoms forward Harry Zolnierczyk has
been recalled to the Philadelphia Flyers, according
to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren. "Harry
Z" made his NHL debut Tuesday night. Wearing
uniform number 29, the speedy winger suited up for
the Philadelphia Flyers in their game at the Ottawa
Senators.
It was also announced that defenseman Cullen Eddy
has been assigned to Greenville of the ECHL and
that forward Andy Bohmbach has been assigned to
Trenton of the ECHL
Zolnierczyk, 24, joins the Flyers after putting
together the first four-point (1g, 3a) game of his
professional career last Friday against Bridgeport.
Still considered a rookie, Zolnierczyk appeared
in 16 games with the Phantoms last season, registering
three goals and two assists. The native of Toronto,
ONT. started the 2010-11 season with Brown University,
where he played in 114 games over four years. Serving
as team captain in his senior year, Zolnierczyk
had a career-best 16 goals and was named the 2011
Ivy League Player of the Year. Zolnierczyk had 69
total points (30g, 39a) in his collegiate career.
This is Zolnierczyk's first call-up to the NHL,
after he appeared in the preseason for Philadelphia
and remained with the Flyers until the very end
of training camp. Undrafted in the NHL, the 5-foot-10,
180-pound forward signed with the Flyers as a free
agent in March, 2011.
Eddy, 23, has played in two games for the Phantoms
this season, registering one assist, two penalty
minutes and a +2 rating. Last season, the 6-foot,
195-pound defenseman had three goals and seven assists
in 47 games with the Phantoms, as well as one goal
and three assists in 16 games for Greenville. The
native of Hidden Valley, PA. played one season for
the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones and four seasons
at Mercyhurst College (AHA), where he led Laker
defensemen with five goals in 2009-10.
Bohmbach, 24, has appeared in one game for the Phantoms
this season, after he made his AHL debut and scored
his first AHL points (two assists) with the Rockford
IceHogs (Chicago) last season. The native of Hudson,
WI. also played in 65 ECHL games for the Toledo
Walleye last season, where he led the team in assists
(44) and points (72) and was named to the ECHL All-Rookie
team. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound forward played in
116 games over four years with the Wisconsin Badgers,
accumulating 54 points (20g, 34a).
