The Philadelphia Flyers
officially begin their Training Camp this Saturday
at their facility at the Virtua SkateZone in Voorhees,
NJ. 65 players are expected to take part in the
camp including possible Adirondack Phantoms players
for the 2011-12 team.
Players from last year's Phantoms squad such as
Eric Wellwood, Mike Testwuide, Ben Holmstrom, Erik
Gustafsson, Matt Read, Jon Kalinski, Tom Sestito
and Zac Rinaldo among others enter camp with intentions
of grabbing one of the coveted roster spots with
the NHL club and will perhaps get the opportunity
to further prove their worth in the Flyers preseason
games which begin Tuesday, September 20 at Toronto.
As the Flyers continue their preseason schedule,
some of the players will begin to make their way
up to Glens Falls on Sunday, September 25 and Monday,
September 26. The first practice for the Phantoms
is scheduled for 1-3 PM on Monday, September 26
at the Glens Falls Civic Center and will be followed
by sessions at 10:00 AM each day for the rest of
the week.
All Phantoms practices are free and open to the
public. It is a great opportunity for area fans
to get an early look at the team as they prepare
for the season. The ice at the Glens Falls Civic
Center is being put down this weekend and will be
set by early next week.
