Phantoms Sign Three

August 3, 2011

The Adirondack Phantoms announced today the signings of three players including two returning skaters from last year's team and one new player. D Cullen Eddy, F Garrett Klotz and F Andy Bohmbach have all agreed to AHL contracts with the Phantoms.

Eddy, 22 (11/18/88), played with Adirondack and Greenville, S.C. (ECHL) in his first full pro season in 2010-11. Last year with the Phantoms, Eddy appeared in 47 games scoring three goals and seven assists with 40 penalty minutes. He began the season with Greenville where he played in 16 games scoring one goal and three assists with 26 penalty minutes. He made his AHL debut on November 17, 2010 in a game at Charlotte. He scored his first ever AHL goal on March 16 against Binghamton. The native of Hidden Valley, Penn. played for four seasons with Mercyhurst College in Erie, Penn. and then turned pro at the conclusion of his senior season in March, 2010 joining a Cincinnati Cyclones team in the ECHL that would go on to win the Kelly Cup Championship.

Klotz, 22 (11/27/88), returns for his fourth season with the Phantoms and joins Jon Kalinski as the only current Adirondack players to have played with the Philadelphia Phantoms. The big 6'5" left-wing broke into pro hockey in 2008-09 playing in 36 games with the Philadelphia Phantoms. Last season, Klotz only played in 13 games with Adirondack mostly at the beginning of the season. He briefly joined Greenville for three games in the ECHL before being assigned to Bloomington, Ill. of the Central Hockey League. His stay with the PrarieThunder proved to be a valuable experience as Klotz would score a career high 9 goals and 15 assists for 24 points in his 49 games there. He also racked up a career high 129 penalty minutes with Bloomington. Klotz was called back to Adirondack in the last week of the 2010-11 season. The Regina, Sask, native was a third round pick of the Flyers (66th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft out of Saskatoon in the WHL.

Andy Bohmbach, 24 (2/25/97) is new to the Phantoms this year. The Hudson, Wisc. native played four seasons for the University of Wisconsin. Bohmbach is a 6'2" lefty shooter who plays left-wing. His debut season in the pros in 2010-11 was a successful one with the Toledo, Oh. Walleye of the ECHL where he lit it up for 28 goals and 44 assists for 72 points in 65 games. Bohmbach led all ECHL rookies in goals and was named to the ECHL All-Rookie team and also played in the January ECHL All-Star Game. Bohmbach ended the ECHL season with a six game goal scoring streak from March 26 through April 2. He also played in six games in the AHL with the Rockford, Ill. IceHogs scoring no goals with two assists. Prior to his pro breakout season, his highest scoring campaign in NCAA hockey came in 2008-09 when he scored 10 goals and 15 assists in 39 games with the Badgers.
