| The Adirondack Phantoms
have been quite busy in the community during the
2010-2011 year, chalking up 200 community appearances.
From Phantoms players reading at schools to Phantoms
staff stocking food in soup kitchens, the organization
has put community first this year. The Phantoms
visited over 25 schools, 12 youth hockey practices,
and 7 scout gatherings with players, coaches and
mascots.
The Phantoms were aided by the mid-season addition
of Head Coach Joe Paterson, a coach with strong
local ties who shares the Phantoms commitment to
giving back to the community. The Phantoms also
added a new mascot, Dax. A character built with
the region in mind, Dax has made his way to 70 events
in only 5 months.
During the year the Phantoms introduced several
programs for kids including the GOAL (Get Out and
Live) Program, a school assembly program designed
to teach students how to make healthy choices. This
positive message reached thousands of children.
The Phantoms also spent time during the year at
ribbon cuttings, fundraisers, parades, festivals,
mixers and several other events throughout the North
Country.
The Adirondack Phantoms want to exceed this success
in the 2011-2012 year. If you have interest in having
the Phantoms involved in a special event contact
Andrew Hill, Director of Fun and Community Development,
