The Adirondack Phantoms have announced the addition
of defenseman Tyler Hostetter to the team. Additionally,
the Phantoms have announced that they are loaning
defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon to Greenville (SC)
of the ECHL.
Hostetter signed a contract with the Flyers in
the summer of 2009 as he was midway through his
Major Juniors career with Erie. He has participated
in the past two Flyers summer rookie camps at the
team's training facility in Voorhees, NJ.
Hostetter will wear #55 and is expected to make
his professional debut Friday night at the Manchester
Monarchs. The 20 year old from Lititz, Penn. has
played the last four seasons for the Erie Otters
of the Ontario Hockey League. His hometown is near
Lancaster and only 70 miles from Philadelphia.
Hostetter scored six goals and 23 points with only
17 penalty minutes in 36 games played with the Otters
this year. Erie's season just came to a heartbreaking
finish earlier this week with a late Game 7 loss
to the Windsor Spitfires in the opening round of
the playoffs.
His head coach for the last four season with the
Otters was Robbie Ftorek who has previously served
as Head Coach of the Albany River Rats (1993-96,
2003-06) as well as the Boston Bruins (2001-03),
New Jersey Devils (1998-2000) and Los Angeles Kings
(1987-89).
Bourdon's season with the Phantoms is completed
as he is heading back to Greenville (SC) for the
third time this season. He played in Tuesday night's
opening game of their playoff series at Elmira and
then made a late night trip back to Glens Falls
for Wednesday's Phantoms home finale. Greenville
is the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and their
best of five series against #8 seed Elmira is even
at one game apiece as the series heads south for
games 3 and 4 Friday and Saturday.
The 21 year old from St. Hyancinthe, Quebec was
a third round selection (#67 overall) of the Flyers
in 2008. He won Best Defenseman of the year honors
with Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior
Hockey League in 2009. This year, Bourdon scored
one goal and nine assists in 46 games in his second
season with the Phantoms.
