| The Philadelphia Flyers
announced today that they have signed 5’11’’,
210-pound forward Darroll Powe (DAH-rell POW) to
a one-year contract, according to club General Manager
Paul Holmgren. In addition, the Flyers have also
signed defenseman Dan Jancevski (jan-SEHV-skee)
and forwards Matt Clackson (KLAK-suhn) and David
Laliberte (la-lih-BUHR-tee). Per club policy, financial
terms were not disclosed.
Powe, 25, recorded 15 points (9G,6A) and 54 penalty
minutes in 63 regular season games this past season,
his second season with the Flyers and in the National
Hockey League. Powe also had one assist and six
penalty minutes in 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
He led the Flyers and ranked third among all players
in the playoffs in hits (65) to help the Flyers
reach the Stanley Cup Final.
In his two seasons with the Flyers, Powe has registered
26 points (15G,11A) and 89 penalty minutes in 123
regular season games and four points (1G,3A) and
13 penalty minutes in 29 postseason games.
A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Powe was originally
signed as a free agent by the Flyers on May 24,
2007 after spending the previous four years at Princeton
University.
Laliberte, 24, recorded 46 points (18G,28A) in
66 games with the Adirondack Phantoms, the Flyers’
American Hockey League affiliate this past season.
He finished tied for second on the Phantoms in points
(46), third in goals (18) and fourth in assists
(28). He also had three points (2G,1A) in 11 games
with the Flyers after he made his NHL debut on Oct.
31 vs. Carolina Hurricanes, where he recorded a
goal and an assist. He also appeared in one Stanley
Cup Playoff game with the Flyers last season.
A native of St-Liboire, Quebec, Laliberte was originally
selected by the Flyers in the fourth round (124th
overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Clackson, 25, spent the entire 2009-10 season with
Adirondack, where he posted six points (2G,4A) and
174 penalty minutes in 60 games with the Phantoms.
Over the course of two full seasons in the AHL with
the Phantoms, he has recorded 15 points (5G,10A)
and 437 penalty minutes in 140 regular season games.
He has led the Phantoms the past two seasons in
penalty minutes: 2009-10 (174) and 2008-09 (263).
A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Clackson was
originally selected by the Flyers in the seventh
round (215th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Jancevski, 29, appeared in 78 regular season games
with the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars’ AHL
affiliate, where he recorded 23 points (3G,20A)
and 71 penalty minutes. He also posted 12 points
(1G,11A) and 20 penalty minutes in 24 Calder Cup
Playoff games, helping the Stars reach the Calder
Cup Finals in their first season in the AHL.
The 6’3’’, 222-pound defenseman
has appeared in nine NHL games, going scoreless,
with the Dallas Stars (2005-06, 2007-08 to 2008-09)
and Tampa Bay Lightning (2007-08).
A native of Windsor, Ontario, Jancevski was originally
selected by Dallas in the second round (66th overall)
of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
