GLENS FALLS, NY – The Adirondack Phantoms,
proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers,
announced today that Philadelphia has recalled goaltender
Jeremy Duchesne from the Phantoms. Adirondack also
announced that goaltender Michael-Lee Teslak has
been recalled from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL,
goaltender Kris Mayotte has been recalled from the
Johnstown Chiefs and right wing Ben Holmstrom has
been signed to an amateur tryout contract.
Teslak, 24, returns for his second stint with the
Phantoms this year. The Fernie, British Columbia
native made his first appearance of the season with
Adirondack on December 12th, 2009, making 28 saves
in a 7-4 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
He was reassigned to Wheeling (ECHL) on December
17th and played in 21 games for the Nailers, posting
a 7-11-3 record. Teslak began the year with the
Elmira Jackals (ECHL), going 5-5-2 with a 2.96 goals-against
average and a 0.890 save percentage.
Holmstrom, 22, signed an ATO with Adirondack and
is looking to make his professional and AHL debut
with the Phantoms. The Colorado Springs, Colorado
native just completed his senior season at the University
of Massachusetts-Lowell of Hockey East, where he
led the team in penalty minutes (69) and was fourth
in points (23) in 39 games this year. Undrafted,
Holmstrom (6’1”, 180 lbs) appeared in
144 career NCAA games over four years with the Riverhawks,
posting 114 points (26 goals, 58 assists) and 201
penalty minutes.
Mayotte, 27, comes to the Phantoms from the Johnstown
Chiefs of the ECHL where he was 8-13-5 with a 3.84
goals-against average and a 0.892 save percentage
in 28 games this season. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
native played four years of college hockey for Union
College in Schenectady, New York and made his AHL
debut with the Lowell Lock Monsters during the 2005-06
season. During the 2008-09 season Mayotte, (6’0”,
185 lbs), had AHL stints to both Hershey and Bridgeport,
and was also called up to the Syracuse Crunch.
Duchesne, 23, made his AHL season debut for the
Phantoms on March 6th against the Binghamton Senators,
stopping 23-of-24 shots in a 1-0 loss. One week
later the Silver Springs, Maryland native recorded
his first career AHL shutout as he stopped all 28
shots that he faced in a 4-0 win over the Providence
Bruins on March 13th in Glens Falls. In his two
games with Adirondack, Duchesne has a 0.51 goals-against
average and a 0.981 save percentage. In addition
to his time with the Phantoms, Duchesne has appeared
in 19 games with the Flyers’ ECHL affiliate,
the Kalamazoo Wings, posting a 9-4-5 record with
one shutout, a 3.20 GAA and .904 save percentage.
Drafted by Philadelphia in the fourth round (119th
overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Duchesne receives
his first career NHL recall and will be available
to play in Thursday’s Flyers-Stars game at
American Airlines Cetner in Dallas, Texas; he will
wear uniform # 67.
Holmstrom, Teslak and Mayotte are all expected
to be in the lineup for Adirondack on Wednesday,
March 17th as they host the Hamilton Bulldogs for
a 7:00 pm St. Patrick’s Day face off at the
Glens Falls Civic Center. During Wednesday’s
game fans can purchase green beer at the concession
stands and take advantage of two-dollar draft beer
downstairs in the Labatt Blue Zone before the game
and during the intermissions.
