| GLENS FALLS, NY – The Adirondack Phantoms,
proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers,
announced today that they will be teaming up with
the New York City Firefighter’s Hockey Team
for a special charity doubleheader on April 9th
at the Glens Falls Civic Center to benefit the planned
Glens Falls September 11th Memorial.
The Phantoms are helping the 9/11 Memorial Committee,
headed by local fireman Ric Stafford, to complete
their fundraising campaign for the designed 9/11
Memorial to be built at the Glens Falls Fire Department’s
Ridge Street Fire Station. Prior to Adirondack’s
7:30 pm home game against the Binghamton Senators
on Friday, April 9th, the FDNY Hockey team will
take on an Adirondack squad made up of local firemen,
police and paramedics.
“We are thrilled to have the FDNY hockey
team join us to help this great local cause,”
said Phantoms Vice President of Business Operations
Mike Thompson. “Not only will our fans get
to see New York City’s bravest hit the ice
against the Adirondack’s finest and bravest,
it will also give everyone the opportunity to show
their generosity in support of the Glens Falls 9/11
Memorial campaign. We are looking forward to a great
night of hockey at the Civic Center.”
Tickets for the Guns ‘n Hoses game are just
$15, which will also provide admission to the Adirondack
vs. Binghamton game that night at 7:30 pm; the team
will donate $5 from every ticket sold to the Glens
Falls 9/11 Memorial campaign. Tickets can be purchased
at the Phantoms Front Office or by calling Ric Stafford
at 518-307-1119; admission to the Guns ‘n
Hoses game is free for all Phantoms Season Ticket
Holders. During both games there will be several
fundraising activities, including passing the fireman’s
boot and a raffle with an autographed Phantoms item.
Any hockey players who work in law enforcement,
firefighting or emergency response organizations
and who would like to play against the FDNY team
in the Guns ‘n Hoses should contact coaches
Brian Donovan at 518-932-2090 or George Carpenter
at 518-361-6109. The entry fee for each player is
$40, which includes a commemorative game jersey
donated by Hallwear of Glens Falls and a ticket
to the Phantoms game against Binghamton that night.
The Glens Falls 9/11 Memorial campaign is just
$6,000 away from reaching its goal of $33,000 to
build the memorial planned for the Ridge Street
Fire Station. The memorial will pay tribute to the
victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks
on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United
Flight 93 that crashed in Stonycreek Township, Pennsylvania.
The stone memorial will have a five-sided base representing
the Pentagon and two pillars rendering the World
Trade Center towers. For more information log on

of the planned memorial is attached as a JPEG file
