GLENS FALLS, NY – The Adirondack Phantoms,
proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers,
announced today that the Flyers have returned goaltender
Johan Backlund and left wing Andreas Nodl on loan
to the Phantoms.
Backlund, 28, was recalled for the second time
this season on December 8th and served as the Flyers
backup goaltender for their last five games. The
Skelleftea, Sweden native has a 6-8-0 record, with
a 2.81 goals-against average, 0.903 save percentage
and two shutouts in 15 appearances with Adirondack
this season. Backlund leads the Phantoms in games
played, wins, minutes played, goals-against average,
shots faced, saves, save percentage and shutouts.
He signed a one-year contract with the Flyers on
March 26, 2009.
Nodl, 22, has appeared in 10 NHL games and has
one assist for the Flyers this season since being
recalled to Philadelphia on November 22nd. The Vienna,
Austria native has three goals and one assist for
four points in 16 games with the Phantoms this season.
Over parts of three seasons with the Phantoms (2007-08
to 2009-10), Nodl has registered 25 points (10 goals,
15 assists) and 26 penalty minutes in 58 regular
season contests. He also has two points (1 goal,
1 assist) in 14 career Calder Cup Playoff games.
Nodl was originally selected by the Flyers in the
second round (39th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry
Draft and signed an entry level contract with the
Flyers on April 4, 2008.
Adirondack is currently preparing to host the Hamilton
Bulldogs for the first time this season on Friday,
December 18th for a 7:30 pm face off at the Glens
Falls Civic Center.
