| GLENS FALLS, NY – The Adirondack Phantoms,
proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers,
announced today that defenseman Danny Syvret (SIHV-reht)
has been recalled by the Flyers. Syvret will be
available to play for Philadelphia tonight as they
take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at Mellon Arena.
Syvret, 24, has been red hot for the Phantoms since
being assigned by the Flyers on November 27th. The
Millgrove, Ontario native has eight points (2 goals,
6 assists) in nine games for Adirondack, including
scoring last second game-winning goals on each of
the previous two Sundays; he scored with 1.6 seconds
left in overtime to beat Springfield on December
6th and then lit the lamp with 0.1 seconds remaining
in the third period to stun the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
Penguins on December 13th.
Syvret made the Flyers opening night roster out
of training camp, appearing in 13 NHL games this
season and recording two assists. He has played
in 267 career AHL games and has 126 points (20 goals,
106 assists) and 143 penalty minutes. Syvret was
originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the
3rd round (81st overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft
and was acquired by Philadelphia on June 2, 2008
in a trade with the Oilers for forward Ryan Potulny.
He has played in 41 career NHL games with Edmonton
and Philadelphia, registering three assists and
20 penalty minutes.
Adirondack is currently preparing to host the Hamilton
Bulldogs for the first time this season on Friday,
December 18th for a 7:00 pm face off at the Glens
Falls Civic Center.
