Dax’s story begins
in the Adirondack’s where he was
born and raised. Dax spent most of his
time watching television, playing video
games, eating fast food, and lying around
the house. This would all come to an
abrupt end when there was a terrible
snow storm which knocked out all of
the power to Dax’s home. Without
power, Dax’s television wouldn’t
work, which limited his entertainment
options.
The lonely Beaver was
forced to go outside and find something
else to do. He did not have many friends
since he rarely went outside, so he
decided to go for a walk. Eventually
he found himself in Glens Falls where
he witnessed a purple figure walking
through the woods. As he carefully approached
the purple figure he realized that it
was none other than the former Adirondack
Phantoms mascot, Phlex!
Phlex was fresh off
his retirement as the Adirondack Phantoms
mascot and was beginning to prepare
for his travels around the world. Phlex
and Dax became great friends as they
got to know one another. Phlex taught
Dax how important it is to stay active,
eat healthy, and try new things. Phlex
also began to tell Dax all about his
former job as the Adirondack Phantoms
mascot and how the team had no one to
replace him. After a while, Phlex began
to notice that Dax was now living a
more active lifestyle and making healthier
choices. Phlex saw that Dax was becoming
a great leader and would set a good
example for others in his community.
Finally it was time
for Phlex to move on and continue on
his journey around the world. Phlex
felt confident that Dax would continue
to make positive decisions in his life
and set a good example for others. Before
departing, Phlex presented Dax with
a very special gift; his cape which
had special powers. When Phlex placed
his cape on Dax’s shoulders, a
magical energy flowed through Dax and
caused him to transform. Dax suddenly
grew very tall and fluffy and his fur
turned bright and colorful. Dax danced
and jumped until he was used to his
new strong and healthy body.
Phlex encouraged Dax
to take all that he had learned about
living a healthy lifestyle and to share
it with others as the new mascot of
the Adirondack Phantoms. Dax was honored
and immediately accepted the challenge.
Phlex and Dax said their goodbyes and
parted ways. Dax headed straight for
the Glens Falls Civic Center where he
got right to work encouraging others
and cheering on the Adirondack Phantoms.
