  Phantoms Internship Opportunities
  Game Crew and Broadcast Internships
 

The purpose of these internships is to give students hands-on experience in the career area of their choice.  These internships will include game day responsibilities totaling approximately ten (10) – twenty (20) hours per week.  In addition to these hours, students are welcomed to come in during office hours to assist the Phantoms staff.  The positions are unpaid, however academic credit is available if applicable.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in Sports Management, Marketing, Broadcasting and/or Business. 

Adirondack Phantoms Broadcast Internship

Broadcast Crew personnel will assist the Director of Game Operations in game-night duties including, but not limited to:

  • Shoot and edit news-style video packages of player interviews, community relations events & appearances, and other team-related events.
  • Compile and edit footage into video highlights segments with music.
  • Shoot game footage during live games and promotions during the game.
  • Archive, log, and maintain game footage for future use.
  • Generate and execute new concepts for in-game entertainment features and promotions.
  • Create a top entertainment experience and exciting atmosphere for fans.
  • Other duties as assigned in a complete and timely fashion.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of video production equipment including cameras, video switcher, tape decks, etc.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Must be available for a majority of the games.

Availability for game days and special events.  Candidate should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course of study that pertains to Sports Management, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or Business.  Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communications skills and come to work presenting a professional appearance and behavior.  Other requirements include: the ability to work independently, capable of meeting deadlines, be extremely detail oriented and be available to work during non-business hours.

Adirondack Phantoms Game Operations

Game Operations Crew will assist the Director of Game Operations in game-night duties including, but not limited to:

  • Assist in implementation of all on-ice and in-arena promotions
  • Assist in keeping all game props organized, in good condition and stored appropriately after each game
  • Attend all assigned game day operations meetings
  • Attend all games on schedule unless prior arrangements have been made one week prior to game
  • Assist ticket sales staff at Guest Services Booth, dealing with fans, handling ticket issues and renewals, etc.
  • Assist in any additional duties assigned by the Director of Game Operations

Requirements

  • Attend the Game Operations meetings held 2 hours prior to game time.  (This meeting is MANDATORY for all assigned to that specific game)
  • If for any reason you will be late or have a problem with your schedule, please call the Marketing Manager to make arrangements. 
  • Scheduling problems need to be handled at least ONE WEEK in advance. You must wear your game credentials at all times.  Only staff wearing their credentials will be allowed event level access.
  • You are not allowed to fraternize with the players while you are at work, or when you are off duty.  Remember you represent the Phantoms at all times - and you are expected to conduct yourself in a professional matter.  There is a no tolerance policy in this regard.
